Greek Invention...
Our group chose to make the water escapement. The water escapement was used by the Greeks as a washstand. The way the escapement works is by a counter weighted spoon tips over when it’s full of water and falls into a basin which releases a ball of pumice. Once there’s no more water in the spoon the counter weight brings the spoon back up and closes the pumice door by a tightened string. One of the first escapements was described by Philo of Byzantium who was a Greek engineer. The escapement was also used by the Song and Tang Dynasty
Our group started making this escapement out of Lego’s for our prototype. We also made sketches of our escapement and made a design of what it should look like on Google Sketch-up.

The first picture is of my prototype.
The prototype was a struggle since it was the first thing we had to build. There weren't any sketches of the water escapement so we had to go by what we thought would work. Although when we finished it everything else was easy to make. The sketches should be very close to the prototype since we made them after. The prototype can decide the fate of you entire project. If it doesn't seem like it'll work then, your boss might just cancel the project. The next three pictures are of the sketches.
In my case I had to make the measurements after I made the prototype i had to do it while I was making it. You have to make multiple versions of your sketches so you have all sides and views.
The last picture is of my final model.
Building the final model was a bit of a struggle since I had to build it by myself although it was a success for me since most of it i had to figure out how I would build it as I was going. When building the final model I had to think of the materials I would use since the prototype was made of legos. I already new a bit about power tools and the safety precautions although the saws were new to me. Now knowing how to use them I could use it later like putting wood flooring in my house.
