Art...
Portrait
These are some of the features we practiced before creating our final portrait of ourselves, using proper shading and realistic details. The first picture is my notebook's cover, of which I turned into a collage of faces, using Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe as the centerpiece. The second photo is my shaded portrait. Lastly, if you scroll down, you'll see my super-simplified portrait.
Animated Character Derivitave
For this assignment, we had to first draw and watercolor an animated character of our choice, and then create a new image derived from that character. As you go through the slide show you can see how I got further and further from the original image and closer and closer to creating my own original image.
Autobiography Portrait
An interdisciplinary autobiography project visually inspired by Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. In collaboration with Pam's humanities course, we will create a grayscale portrait collage depicting people who have written books about their life’s journey. The portraits are made using paper scraps and modpodge.
Watercolor...
The first image is of a landscape showing atmospheric perspective. The second is my attempt at recreating it. The following image is of a landscape I painted outside over by the bay near NTC.
Basquiat...
After watching the film on Basquiat, we tried to create art in the style Basquiat practiced: stream of consciousness, primal forms of expression, no do overs (crossing out anything he didn't like afterwards).
Austin Jones Project...
Austin Jones, graduate from Pasadena Art Center, came and taught us about character development and animating live character through excentuating certain aspects of their personality and facial features.
Faces of Art History...
We chose a face from any historical artwork and then looked through historical artworks to find an existing face that appeals to us. We then projected the image onto the painting surface and traced the features with pencil and proceeded to reproduce it with acrylic paint. This face will be isolated by a flat color as a background and the background will be color coordinated. I chose Deladeso's version of a Chuck Close.
Fauxasis
in this "trash to treasure" project, we took recycled materials like cardboard boxes, old magazines, and soda bottles. We then assembled them into shapes of plants and animals and paper mached and painted them. Below is my venus fly trap.
